Helping Gen X women navigate the transitions of life by nourishing their mind, body and spirit.
The idea for Salon NUR was born sometime during the pandemic - when we all found time to pause and reflect on the things that bring us joy, even in the most challenging of times. For us, the founders of Salon NUR, these moments came through deep, meaningful conversations, simple food shared with good friends and being a part of communities and causes larger than us. As we emerged from the pandemic, we wanted to hold on to those moments and share them with others just like us.
Taking inspiration from early literary salons, we created Salon NUR as a space to gather interesting women, create inspiring environments that foster conversation and community. We focused on Gen X women because this is the group we identify with and we recognize the many transitions women in their 40s and 50s are navigating, often with no support. So many of us have played so many roles and given so much of ourselves to our loved ones and communities that often, by the time we reach this age, we have lost our own selves. The name NUR means light - we picked this name because we believe that although it may have been dimmed over time, each of us carry a unique light within us. Our hope is to help more women find and radiate that light through this community of NUR.
HOW WE DO IT..
We know that women in this stage of life face a complex set of transitions, regardless of cultures and backgrounds. We also wholeheartedly believe that all women are equipped and empowered to handle all the challenges and transitions life hands us. However, as nurturers and caregivers, many of us spend a large part of our lives up to this point, taking care of the needs of others around us - parents, spouses, children, employers / employees, communities and causes. We lose touch with ourselves and our own desires and powers. “What do YOU want” can become a paralyzing question
At Salon NUR, we design experiences around our core needs to rest, renew and shine. We encourage and support our members to step away from the endless cycles of modern life, take time to pause and reflect, to find joy in authentic connection, and to enrich your soul through exposure to the arts, community & culture.
Our offerings are constantly evolving but our focus is always on creating the means and tools that help Gen X women connect with their own wisdom, passions and path.The core of our membership is focused on intellectual, honest conversations around topics relevant to women in our demographic.

The light is within us - We do not teach or train. We believe each of us carries our own light within us. Our experiences are designed to help our members get in touch and discover, or re-discover their own path, truth and light.
Embrace the mess - Lives are messy and the mess makes them richer. We are not interested in perfection. Come to Salon NUR as you are. Chin hair, side boobs, ugly crying and insecurities are welcome here.
We are a safe space for those who do not want to play safe - We welcome, support and encourage those who dare to challenge norms and conventions. We are looking for truth seekers and truth tellers - remember though, speaking the truth does not entitle you to be a jerk. Be bold, Be nice.
We need more than your money - You get from the salon what you put into it. We want women who are willing to be open, authentic and vulnerable. If you are not there yet, we want to help you get there.
The artists will save the world - A focus on the arts is a core part of the Salon NUR experience. While we do not need any artistic talent or even familiarity, we seek women who have an interest and appreciation of visual, written, performing or any kind of art.
